Take the shot without breaking your flow.
Capture a specific area when the detail matters, or a complete display when the surrounding context matters. On macOS, CaptureRecall uses ScreenCaptureKit and the native selection crosshair. On Linux it works through the XDG Desktop Portal.
The macOS and Linux previews support selected-area and full-screen capture. Configurable global shortcuts let you trigger either mode without returning to the app window.

02 / OCR and search
Search the words inside the image.
Local OCR processes new captures without blocking capture or transfer. Recognized text becomes another way to retrieve the image later—even when the filename and date mean nothing to you.
One library query searches titles, descriptions, detected text, filenames, notes, tags, and capture types. OCR targets Latin-alphabet text in the current prerelease.

Your screenshots are not trapped in the library.
Copy publishes both image data and the saved PNG file, supporting inline pasting and file attachments. Native drag-out starts a copy operation so captures can move into email, documents, chat applications, cloud tools, and folders.

05 / Local storage
A portable core with an understandable footprint.
CaptureRecall stores PNG files in application-managed storage and indexes their metadata in SQLite. Relaunching restores the library. Storage location controls are designed to keep the core workflow on your computer rather than behind an account.

The current packages target Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 14 or newer and x86_64 Linux desktops. CaptureRecall does not provide cloud sync, sharing links, video or GIF capture, browser extensions, or automatic activity capture.
